The Dye Kazak Rug, measuring 236 x 175 cm (7.74 x 5.74 ft), hails from the western Caucasus region, home to Armenian and nomadic Kurdish tribes. This vibrant rug is characterised by bold, stylised floral patterns in striking reds, blues, greens, and yellows. Crafted using natural dyes and Ghazi hand-spun wool, each piece in our Kazak collection reflects exceptional quality and traditional craftsmanship.
The Kazak district, the largest within the group, spans from Erivan in the Armenian Caucasus to Tiflis on the Georgian border and extends southeast to Karabagh. The Khanate of Kazak produced both thick, high-pile rugs from mountainous regions and low-pile rugs from valleys, villages, and settlements, each showcasing distinctive and recognisable features unique to their origins. This Dye Kazak Rug embodies the rich heritage and characteristic style of this historic weaving area.
