Use our rug cleaning cost calculator to estimate the price of professionally cleaning your rug. The cost is mainly based on the rug’s size, but material, construction, condition, stains, odour, pet urine, moth contamination and delicate fibres can all affect the final quotation.
This calculator is designed to give a helpful estimate only. For an accurate quote, please send clear photos of the full rug, the back, the fringes, corners, any stains or damage, along with the full dimensions and your postcode.
Use this rug cleaning calculator to estimate the cost of professionally cleaning your rug with additional treatment added where required for delicate materials, pet urine, odour, moth contamination or heavy staining.
Professional rug cleaning is normally calculated by square metre. To work out the area of your rug, multiply the length by the width. For example, a rug measuring 250 cm x 170 cm is 2.5 m x 1.7 m, which equals 4.25 square metres.
Different rug materials need different levels of care. A standard wool rug is usually more straightforward to clean than a silk, viscose, jute, antique or delicate handmade rug. Delicate fibres may require extra dye testing, lower moisture control, careful washing, slower drying and more specialist handling.
Persian, Oriental and handmade rugs should always be inspected before cleaning because the dyes, foundation, fringes and previous repairs can affect the safest cleaning method.
Some rugs need more than a standard clean. Pet urine, odour, wine stains, coffee stains, heavy soiling, moth contamination, colour bleeding or old stain treatments can all require additional work.
Pet urine is especially important because it can soak into the rug foundation and cause recurring odour if not treated properly. Moth contamination may also require specialist treatment, especially if larvae or pile loss are present.
If your rug has loose fringes, damaged side cords, holes, tears, threadbare areas or moth damage, cleaning alone will not repair the structure. In these cases, the rug may need professional repair or restoration after cleaning.
Rugmaster provides specialist rug repair and restoration, including fringe repair, side cord repair, hole repair, moth damage repair and reweaving.
The calculator above gives a useful estimate, but final pricing depends on inspection. For an accurate quote, please send clear photos of the full rug, close-ups of the back, fringes, corners, stains and any damaged areas.
