Seneh is the capital of Persian Kurdistan, situated south of the town of Bidjar and about 105 miles north West of Hamedan. It is situated in a fertile valley, and the fine rugs and Kilim of Seneh have been famous for many centuries. They come under the category of "Persian Kurdish Rugs".
The rugs of Seneh have a peculiar fascination. The best examples possess a refinement of texture, originality and a naivety in colour and design, which are delightful and unsurpassed by any other Persian weave. They are also unique in style and unmistakable: none of the rugs of Persia remotely resemble them. For the weavers of this remote Kurdish town are among the few in Persia who have preserved a style and a dignity of their own.
For 200 years they have continued to weave in their own way, undisturbed by the whims and fashions of the west. This beautiful and finely woven rug is from Seneh in Persian Kurdistan. They use very good quality wool for weaving their rugs and Seneh rugs are very much sought after by the collectors and general public.
