It is the oldest Iranian city and one of the oldest in the world. At the Media era, the dawn of Iranian history, the city was called Hegmataaneh. In Greek documents, however; the city was named Ekbatan. The valley of Hegmataaneh in the city contains a lot of the relics of Media, Achaemenid, Sassanid and Islamic era civilizations. Some of the relics have been uncovered and are on display to the interested. All this indicates that Hamedan has a huge share in the establishment of the human civilization.
Hamedan province is located in the western part of the country with an area of more than 19000 square kilometres. It is bounded on the north by the province of Zanjan, on the south by lorestan, on the east by the central province and on the west by Kerman shah and Kurdistan. The population of Hamedan province is distributed in the 6 cities of Hamedan (capital of the province), Malayer, Nahavand, Tuserkan, Kabudarahang and Asadabad as well as their various districts and villages.
This one is woven with good quality wool and is hard wearing as well as being decorative and beautiful. Hamedan are commonly known to have geometrical and floral designs and range from different colours but are mainly considered to be red.
